Japan day 02/13 - Exploring around Marunouchi, Akihabara, Sumida

Woke up at like 2 PM, met the kindest host ever, Mizu san (didn't find him yesterday so just left my stuff since I already got the door code via Booking), he explained the trash sorting system, very different from what I'm used to! And he urged everyone to be quiet during sleeping hours, I love when someone actually cares about that cause I wake up from the slightest sounds, but this hostel was comfy and peaceful even tho there were up to 24 people in the room, sleeping pods were all separated so there was enough privacy and space too. I brought Mizu san a tin of cookies with a cute Christmas design and he seemed to really like it ðŸ¥¹

Anyway! I went out to explore more, this time Chiyoda to see Marunouchi and the shopping mall above the train station, then to Akihabara for nerd stuff including souvenirs for friends! I was so hooked on all the gacha machines and cheap anime and manga merch, it was almost impossible to get me out of there but "fortunately" many shops started closing.

Then went to check out a sentou (bath house) in Sumida. Forgot to mention but yesterday I checked one near Asakusa, it was a super interesting experience, bit awkward at first but quickly turned very comfortable. In the Sumida one I saw some yakuza guys which was shocking at first, but they're also just there to chill after all, I sort of expected it in places they allow tattoos. In mostly onsen (natural hot spring) places they are more often banned than in sentou, or you can buy stickers to cover them up. There's multiple historical reasons why they are a taboo, yakuza is one of them still. They do know foreigners aren't yakuza, but you can't say some people have to stick to the rule while others don't, right!?

After that I slowly walked back to the hostel, of course Asakusa was on the way and couldn't resist walking through it one more time 🥰 it was a bit earlier when I went to sleep cause had to wake up earlier, but still like 2 am...
