化物語 Bakemonogatari Episode 14 & 15
You can see a reappearance of this location, the Odaiba Dream Bridge in the second Kizumonogatari movie!It was difficult getting the exact comparison shots here because a bunch of the lamps weren't working, and there was something going on called the Light Walk Event and much of the bridge was filled with decorations, and also anime and real life perspectives just don't always match! But the tiling, the shapes of the lamps, and The Towers (that's what they're called) give away the location. You may notice one missing detail, the ferris wheel! Apparently this one existed from 1999 to 2022 (Daikanransha) but was deconstructed to make space for a sports arena.
傷物語 Kizumonogatari Movie 1
This was probably the strangest area I visited, it's a park on one of Kanegawa's industrial islands. It was freezing cold, but I stocked up on heating packs! People were looking at me in concern like I was veeery lost. Next to the water there were dozens of people fishing in the dark and there was a vending machine with worms nearby. I had to take a train to Shinagawa, from there to Kawasaki, and there I could take a direct bus, it took almost 2 hours. Sadly I missed the beautiful sunset, but still there are pics, it happened!
花物語 Hanamonogatari Episode 2
Next up is Shinagawa station, which kind of functions as the major gateway between Tokyo and Kanegawa. It's famous for this giant curved hallway which you can see in the anime. It doesn't quite have the mysterious colors but it still has a very interesting vibe (if you're not one of the thousands of salaryman who have to pass through here every day). Unfortunately I couldn't get any non crowded shots this late into the evening.
This part is the at the east Kounan exit. I just had a difficult time finding the exact position of the third screenshot due to the big crowds.
囮物語 Otorimonogatari 1 (2nd Season Episode 12)
Just slightly north of Shibuya station you can find this little walkway in the middle of the road. My pictures were a bit rushed, I didn't have time to make the comparisons but just knew there was something in this particular area. Still I wanted to include it! The colors are different but the structures and buildings around it are very similar.
恋物語 Koimonogatari 3 (2nd Season Episode 23)
In the area of Kichijouji you can find this Starbucks, um I mean Relax Coffee... just a few streets north from the station. The staff was exceptionally friendly and chatty which was refreshing cause in Tokyo business staff tend to very strictly follow their customer interaction scripts. The coffee was okay, but most of all I loved to experience places like this, just like in anime! Also there was a cute very vocal crow keeping me company most of the visit, unfortunately I didn't have any snacks to share.
During this scene it briefly switches over to the Sunroad shopping street nearby. I just realized it also shows this place at the start of the episode.
Then near the end of the episode it cuts to a path next to a railroad in Meguro.
暦物語 Koyomimonogatari Episode 3
For this episode we're back to the surroundings of Shinagawa station, at Kounan park. The bridge and round thing (is it a music note?) are next to this park as you can see on the map. The green (or irl blue) structures are a bit more north alongside the river. One of the many places I wanted to visit during the day but didn't find the time. Later in the episode you can see a scene with Hanekawa in the same area but in the dark.
終物語 Owarimonogatari Episode 9
Back to Meguro! Believe it or not but this is just meters away from the cut during Koimonogatari 3. Fortunately I took all the pictures at once instead of having to go back and forth. Again, in the dark, but at least the scenery is recognizable.
That was all of Monogatari for now! I'm hoping to continue this collection later in 2026.
